I am a believer of Covid-19. Surprisingly many are not. They think it’s all a hoax. There are a lot of WOKE folks that believe it to be some sort of conspiracy. Just like religion, believe what you want to believe. I won’t be arguing with anyone. And if it reaches your doorstep, continue to not believe, and leave the limited ventilators for someone else. Robitussin is all you get.
Just joking but I did have a small obsession with researching this virus. I was trying to understand its characteristics, statistics, etc. I’ve been tracking the number of cases since we started hearing about it more and more. So to learn that we just surpassed China with the number of confirmed cases this week, I was floored. I screamed ‘FAKE NEWS!’ There was no way in hell the U.S. with less people in the whole country than the 5th largest city in China (Wuhan), has more cases all of a sudden.
I was literally floored. I was upset that The NY Times would allow some reporter to write such a thing. But then I started to do my research. I had to figure out just what had happened. Well, our president did say he was making more tests available. From a press conference, hundreds of thousands tests were supposed to be coming off the assembly lines. I guess that became true as we are now leading in the number of confirmed cases.
Sad. Yet so important. It’s important to collect this data and that was the soul purpose of making more tests available. You don’t know what’s eating your lunch without them. To know just how contagious and damaging this strand of the virus is, collecting data is crucial. So I’m glad we are testing, glad we have a whole lot of data, and glad that now our administrators are now more believers taking more precautions to keep us safe.
Now it’s time for us to do our part. Believer it or not, it’s time to follow the guidelines you’ve been given by your state representatives, leaders, and government officials. It’s my prayer that none of them will lead us astray. I don’t care what political affiliation they belong to either, at this point, I just want them to care about people, period.
It’s time for us to stop spreading fear only faith. Trust I’ve seen it all. From the vaccine being a way to insert chips into us…LISTEN. If ‘they’ (whoever they is) wanted to insert chips in people (what’s known as the mark of the beast), they’ve had plenty opportunities to do so. How about with past flu shots, allergy shots, or whatever. And even if you don’t consent to these shots, trust when you were born, you were injected several times before leaving the hospital. Please stop it.
Warnings are everywhere! And rightfully so, but we all have to deduce the amount of it we engage with and the parts that seem ludicrous. Even if it’s coming from officials. But we can’t be on either extreme end of the spectrum with this situation, as we can’t ignore it all nor can we turn into fear filled extremists balls of anxiety. It will be hard but we must get through this the best we can.
One thing is for sure, we will never forget this time in our lives. Ever. But guess what, if you’ve been around for a few decades, there are other memorable tragedies prior to now that many know and experienced up close. For myself, I had no direct experience but I’ll never forget 911, Hurricane Katrina, or even the tornadoes of 2011 (this one was at our front door, literally). Never mind the magnitude of these events because if either was on your front door, it was a devastating time nonetheless. Do you recall the tsunami that rocked Japan killing over 15,000 people in 2011? Probably not because it was not in your backyard.
Now this one is ours…all of ours. All countries are involved. It’s not just one state, all states. It’s in our neighborhoods. We can’t just watch the news and ignore this virus anymore. To do so could be deadly. We all have to pay attention. We all have to work together this time. It amazes me what it often takes to get our attention (this is a whole story in itself). This one has our attention now. But just like we survived other tragedies, we will survive this one. This is NOT the end. This is only the beginning.
Stay safe. Stay home. Stay blessed.
Thank you for your attention. Remember you are your own competition.
