You still in the bed? GET UP! It’s time to wash your face.
It’s not a work day so you are allowed more time to sleep. Ok but how long will you be? Another hour? Until noon? 5pm? What?
It’s Sunday. For many of you this is your day off and you are sleeping it away in the bed. Whatever your off day is, all of a sudden; you have no energy, no desire to move. You just want to stay in the bed and wallow in your situation.
You have been robbed of your joy. There is no one you want to face. Especially not those church folks. Pastor refers to it as that ‘Sunday sickness’ that happens around 9am on Sunday until around 1:30pm. You went to bed fine but woke up sick but right after church hours, you are well again. LOL
But that isn’t quite your situation either because your sickness started yesterday, Saturday, morning. Seems like you are fine Monday thru Friday but begin to lose interest once the weekend begins.
Now that is strange. There was a time you loved the weekends as this was your time to unwind from working all week and this was your time to have some fun. But that isn’t the case now. Weekends have become a burden. You see, working is your way of escaping from your problems. Many of these issues are at home. The workplace has become your safe haven, your time away, your enjoyment, your family, and for some your peace.
Home has become your prison. Home isn’t safe. Home is stressful. Even if people are there, home is lonely. Home is boring. And home is a sad reminder of whom you have become. And it sickens you.
It has gotten you to the point of no return. You don’t want to be bothered. You don’t want to move. Get dressed? For what, you think. There is no life outside the walls you have built around you.
But I come to say…rise my sister and my brother. You can’t stay there. No, it’s not safe for you there. There is life beyond the walls and it awaits you. There is yet so much for you to do and explore. God has created a beautiful horizon just beyond the hills. Go there and find delight in just being.
Sometimes I find the greatest peace in simple sitting outside and looking at the trees and hearing the birds chirp. With no place to go and no other place I want to be. Listening to my kids play outside and the ballgame in the distance as my husband listens on.
Life isn’t going to find you. You have to seek it. And when you do, grab it by it’s neck and DONT let go. This day awaits you. Get up my dear, and wash your face.
Thank you for your attention. Remember you are your own competition.
