I’m sure this title appears a bit abrasive. Well it can’t be any more abrasive than how you treat yourself. The old adage says ‘we are our worse enemy.’ Well I think that is an understatement. For most of you, you are the ONLY enemy!
You sabotage your efforts with your tongue. Your negative talk. But why do you do this? Yes, I realize we are human and we can’t help it but there has to be a point where you recognize it’s your brain playing tricks on you.
Well, now that I think about it, that’s really hard to do especially when our brains can be doing this for so long without our knowledge of it. I never really paid this term any attention until I read this book just last year. It’s called being self-aware.
Self awareness is the conscious knowledge of one’s own character, feelings, motives, and desires. From that, that tells me that we have to consciously do this because usually we operated in the subconscious realm. For instance, we get ready for work or even drive to work subconsciously.
We aren’t really paying attention to our actions because our brain knows what to do. This is why it takes an action from us to work our brains into a consciousness.
When was the last time you sat and thought about your actions, your thoughts, or feelings? Really, when have you analyzed your feelings? Especially when those feelings are negative. Probably, like, never! Be honest if you haven’t, it’s natural.
Just like it’s natural to downgrade your efforts, ridicule your attempts, or even to talk yourself out of a good thing. Too often we do this and aren’t aware of it.
I don’t have any profound advice besides SNAP OUT of it. If you want to be awake about something spend time being WOKE about yourself rather all the things going on around you that probably has nothing to do with you.
WAKE the hell up about what you are doing and those things you aren’t doing that you should be doing. And shut up all that negative talk. Just like we were taught as kids, you still can do whatever it is that you set your mind to.
Just do it! Stop just wearing Nike and be Nike.
Thank you for your attention. Remember you are your own competition.
