I’ve gotten hooked on listening to Bishop TD Jakes sermons but recently discovered Pastor John Gray. Listened to Pastor Gray today. Sermon was titled “From here to there.” Within it he discussed how Thursday was just as important as the 3rd day. “It wouldn’t be a 3rd day without Thursday.” Wow!
I’d never considered Thursday as being important. But Pastor Gray explained that Jesus made the decision about going forth on Thursday. Sometimes the hardest things have to be decided on. I’ve learned over the years, no decision is still a decision. But He made the decision to lay His life down before He went.
This made me think. What hard decisions have you made lately? Most of the time people only focus on the prize. We underestimate the process to get to the prize. From the outside looking in, it looks easy and simple. Or it looks like you need to go back to the drawing board because you failed (you keep telling yourself).
I want to remind all of us trying to do better. Trying to make money moves. Seeking their dreams and God given purpose for their life. Rather you get the prize or fail, do you realize just how incredible you are for making that decision!?!?
Listen! Day in and day out, so many ignore themselves and refuse to make the decision to be great. But not you! Making the decision made you operate in BOLDNESS. You said YES to your destiny. You may have stumbled but is that all you got? No, you have more to give!
Even Oprah has failed. Oprah was fired by the producer because they said she was “unfit for television.” Imagine that. And here you are ready to quit after losing your job, booking a show that had a super small audience, being boo’d, not enough likes or followers, book isn’t selling, clients aren’t coming consistently, etc.
I dare you to keep going. Reframing this praise from church last night…I COMMAND YOU TO LIVE! AND NOT DIE…with your dream still inside of you. When you go, go on E! Leave behind your treasured gift, inspirational anecdotes, advice, etc. Work that thing now and allow your legacy to live on forever. The two motivational speakers I learned from are both deceased and I still sing their praises and share their quotes and I still try to follow their advice. How about that.
I will continue to repeat this as long as I can. You have something in you that someone needs! And I’m willing to bet you are suffering keeping it bottled up inside. You often get sad because you think you are missing out or you wish you could do it. But you can. Hear me. You can. You can follow your dream. I COMMAND you to live!
Thank you for your attention. Remember you are your own competition.
