Listen to me! Everything that could happen…will. When it’s time to go after your dreams, the skies the limit to what you can accomplish and the skies the limit to the things that can and will get in your way.
And I’m not speaking of no little battles either. I’m talking those trials and blows in life that knock the wind out of you. Those that tilt you over. Trust I’ve experienced enough in the last 2 years of my journey to tell you to KEEP ON LEANING!
Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Don’t throw in the towel. Don’t mutter, “this is it.” Because it’s not! You have so much in you. Keep going.
Distractions like family problems, spouse or kids acting a fool. Issues at work. Getting looked over for the promotion. Layoffs. Graduation near but the people claim you are missing a few credits. Falling out with a best friend.
Did you know that once you start on your life’s journey, you become a target? That’s correct. A target not only for crazy, bad, or unheard of things happening to you. But you become a target for people to put their mouth on you. For people to start talking about you and it won’t always be good. Yes there will be some good things said but there will be some negative words put on you as well.
Yeah yeah yeah I know I know. You don’t care what the people have to say about you. I’m with you. Because I’m one of the hardest people I know. Words roll off of my skin just as quick as they leave folks mouths. Im from Jackson, Mississippi baby!
I can tell people where it is they can go and send them there. Ok. But I’m also human and there have been times when I have bad days and those words stick longer than they should.
And they become distractions. Depending on how long these things stick, it can be very damaging to any progress made. It’s easy to turn away when your eyes can’t see past the situation before you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve aborted this mission.
It’s too hard at times. There are many times I just want to go crawl under a rock. And stay there. I want to throw the best pity party you’ve ever seen. Sometimes living regular is tempting. I mean like who has to put up with this? Not me. I can just go to work and come back home and be just fine.
Who says I have to host a retreat? Who says I have to plan another event? Write another blog? Make another T-shirt? Or sell another book? Another website? For what? Well since I have it, here it is:
I can easily scream out loud for all the world to hear, “I don’t have to put up with this!” Pack my bags and go home!
But I can’t. I have the ability to recognize distractions from afar off. I realize it for what it is; as nothing but a distraction to throw me off my path. Once I know this, I straighten myself out real quick and get back into the game.
And that is exactly what you are to do. Take life on. When unfortunate things happen, experience them. Feel the emotions. Acknowledge your feelings and thoughts. It’s all real and true. Stay there for just a short time though. And then let it go.
Let it go because you have more work to do. So what are you waiting on? Go for it!
Thanks for your attention. Remember you are your own competition.
