It’s time! Time to stand up to these kings surrounding us. Recall from Part 1, to confront means to face up to and deal with (a problem or difficult situation). Initially I discussed how it’s important to stand up to people that hurt us or disrespect us meaning instead of holding in feelings without ever discussing with the person that wrongs us, it’s best to confront them.
Confronting them doesn’t have to be an aggressive act. It can be as simple as letting them know that your feelings are hurt by their actions. Often times instead of confronting others, we hold grudges. Gateway for resentment and bitterness to creep in.
Well, there is another king we have a tendency to ignore. If you ask me, this is the king we need to focus on first and that is the king within.
Im willing to bet there is a group of us that may actually be on READY to slain an external king all while ignoring the king right in front of their face. The king that one sees in the mirror is often the one that needs to be dealt with.
Riddle me this. How often do you sit idly with yourself and your thoughts? How much time do you spend with just you and your thoughts without your phone and social media? If you think about it, social media doesn’t grant alone time. When you are engaged on social media, it’s you and hundreds, if not thousands, of others.
I mean alone time! Have you? Do you do this often? I’m willing to bet the answer is no. It’s no because we are often afraid of our thoughts. Our thoughts aren’t always positive. Our minds turn against us. It begins to remind us of our inadequacies, our failures…our past.
So…it’s time. It’s time to fight back. Time to fight YOU back. Trust I’m not crazy. I know how our minds operate because I pay lots of attention to mines. When that joker turns against me, I tell it just who is in charge. I give those negative thoughts notice that they have no place within me.
When it reminds me about something over 10 years ago…”shut up, who cares! Ain’t nobody thinking about something 10 years ago but you.” Heck you should see me when it reminds me of things just last week. Lol I don’t care. That’s old news! Moving right along…
When it reminds me about what someone said that was hurtful…”so what. Who are they? Nobody. They have no control in my life. They are insignificant. Forget them.”
When it says I can’t do something, I throw a scripture in its face. “I can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens me.” You need make-up because you are ugly. “I love make-up, I don’t need make-up. I am beautifully and wonderfully made.” When it says I should be afraid, ” NOPE…the Lord is my light and salvation, whom shall I fear…a war breaks out around me and even then I will be confident.”
It’s your brain! Handle it! Don’t be afraid to stand up to yourself. If you are making mistakes or doing something wrong, have a talk with yourself. Don’t sit and ignore your own issues. How can you want to succeed but won’t take stock in who you are? Surely you are not afraid of you! I challenge you to 30 minutes (just 30 minutes) along with yourself, no phones, no games; just you and your thoughts. See what happens and take note of our response.
“If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.”~African Proverb
